What our garden maintenance covers
Maintenance visits are planned around your garden and the season. A schedule can include:
- mowing, edging and trimming lawns
- weeding beds and paving joints
- pruning shrubs and trimming hedges
- feeding lawns and beds at the right time of year
- topping up mulch and replacing plants that have failed
- checking irrigation for leaks, blocked nozzles and timer settings
- removing garden waste
How often should a garden be maintained in Pretoria?
Most Pretoria gardens need more frequent care in the growing season, roughly October to April, when lawns grow quickly after rain. Weekly or fortnightly visits suit most homes in summer. In the dry winter months growth slows, and fortnightly or monthly visits are often enough.
Gardens with large lawns, fast hedges or many seasonal beds need more attention; water-wise gardens with indigenous plants and mulch need less. We recommend a frequency after seeing your garden, and you can change it as the seasons change.
Once-off clean-ups
Moving into a new home, preparing to sell, or catching up after a few months away? A once-off clean-up clears overgrowth, cuts back and reshapes beds, and leaves the garden ready for regular care. If the garden needs more than a clean-up, a garden makeover may be the better route.
Maintenance after we install
If we installed your garden, maintenance continues with the same people who know its plants, irrigation and levels. New gardens benefit most from close care in the first season while plants establish.

Garden Maintenance for Pretoria conditions
Pretoria's dry winters and frost turn many lawns, especially kikuyu, a straw colour from about June. That is normal dormancy, not neglect. Winter is the time for pruning, bed preparation and irrigation checks, so the garden is ready to grow when spring rain arrives. Our guide to winter garden maintenance in Gauteng covers the main winter tasks.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be home for maintenance visits?
No, as long as we have safe access to the garden and a place to put garden waste or permission to remove it. We agree access arrangements up front.
Do you remove garden refuse?
Garden waste removal can be included in your maintenance quote.
Can you maintain a garden you did not install?
Yes. We maintain existing gardens too and will point out anything, such as an irrigation fault, that needs separate attention.
Is there a contract period?
The terms are set out in your quotation. Ask us about the options when we visit.
