Garden Makeovers in Pretoria

Sometimes a garden needs more than a tidy-up. A makeover keeps what is worth keeping, removes what is not, and rebuilds the rest into a garden that works for you now.

Signs your garden needs a makeover

  • patchy lawn that does not recover, even with care
  • overgrown shrubs and beds that have lost their shape
  • bare soil, builder's rubble or dust after construction
  • water pooling after storms, or dry areas that never thrive
  • a layout that no longer suits your household

How a makeover differs from a new garden

A makeover works with an existing site. We assess which trees, plants and hard surfaces are healthy and worth keeping, then plan around them. That usually costs less than starting from nothing and gives the new garden mature structure straight away.

A typical makeover combines a refreshed layout from landscape design with clearing, soil improvement, new lawn, replanted beds and, where needed, paving and edging.

Making over a garden without overspending

Start with the parts that affect everything else: drainage, soil and irrigation. Then spend on the areas you see and use most, usually the front entrance and the main outdoor living space. Plants can be bought smaller and left to grow in, and remaining areas can be finished in a later phase from the same plan.

What to keep and what to replace

Mature trees, healthy hedges and sound paving are usually worth keeping, because they give a new garden instant structure. Plants that are diseased, badly placed or invasive, lawns that are mostly weeds, and paving that has sunk or cracked are usually better replaced. We go through this with you on site, so the quote reflects your choices.

Garden Makeovers for Pretoria conditions

In Pretoria, the best time to finish a makeover with new lawn and planting is spring to early summer, when warm soil and rain help everything root. Clearing, pruning and hard landscaping can be done in winter so the garden is ready to plant when the rains start.

Frequently asked questions

Can you keep some of my existing plants?

Yes. Healthy plants can often be kept in place or lifted and replanted elsewhere in the new layout.

Do I need a full design for a makeover?

Not always. For simple makeovers we can work from a site visit and a sketch layout. Larger changes benefit from a proper design.

Can a makeover be done in phases?

Yes. We plan the whole garden and build it in stages to suit your budget.

Is the before and after image a real project?

The image on this page is an illustration of a typical front-garden makeover, not a specific Attract Bopa project.
